210 – 230-Create Lead, Prospect, and Opportunity                                                                 Revised March 4, 2020

 

The following cases are good possibilities for a sale but they all start from a different point of the spectrum.

Lead 

A lead is created when someone like an employee or a customer give us a name of someone else, that is not yet a customer of ours, that they think they might be interested in our products or services.

At this time, the person being given as a lead as not yet shown interest on what we have to offer and a member of the Driessen team (salesperson, most probably) will reach out to introduce our company and products and see if we can be of any help. CSR to create a Lead in NS.

Prospect

A Prospect is someone that is not a customer yet but has shown some interest on our products and/or services. If someone calls our office inquiring about prices, product or services, they are a Prospect since they probably on the market for what we offer.  In this case the CSR will enter the information in NS as a Prospect.

Customer

Anyone that has had any business relations with the company in the past.

Opportunity

An Opportunity is created for someone that is either a Prospect or a Customer already and has shown some interest on our products and/or services. If a customer or prospect calls our office inquiring about prices, product or services, then CSR will enter the information in NS in their file as an Opportunity.

 

210 - How to Create a Lead

  1. From main screen dropdown, chose “Lead”.  
  2. Fill Type, Name, Category.
  3. Assign a Salesperson
  4. Enter contact information. Try to get as much as possible such as Tel., address and email. We will need at least 1 of them in order to contact the person.
  5. Make sure that subsidiary is correct.
  6. Save.

 

 

 

220 - How to Create a Prospect

  1. From Document dropdown, chose “Prospect”. 
  2. Fill Type, Name and Category.
  3. Pick a Salesperson.
  4. Enter contact information. Try to get as much as possible such as Tel., address and email. We will need at least 1 of them in order to contact the person.
  5. Make sure that subsidiary is correct.
  6. Save.

Note: If creating the Prospect from a Lead the only thing needed is to change the “Status” to one of the Prospect options. Once saved the Lead will become a Prospect.

Note: The form to create a Lead, Prospect and customer is the same.  The only thing different is the Status.

 

230 - How to Create an Opportunity

An Opportunity can be created from both the Prospect or the customer

  1. From Prospect or customer file, create new Opportunity from drop down on their file 
  2. Chose “Sales Rep” if field does not have a salesperson name or if needs to be changed.
  3. Enter the Status, Expected Close and Opportunity Type
  4. Fill out “Details” with all the information being given by the Prospect/customer regarding what they are looking for or interested.
  5. Save..

 

Important: Always create an Opportunity from a Prospect or a customer; NEVER from a Lead. If you create from a Lead it will NOT report (link) to VSM
