Changing address on existing customer

 

When an existing customer moves or/and changes their address, these are the steps to take.             Note: NEVER highjack the existing address.

  • Open customer file and edit
  • Go to the “Address” tab
  • Uncheck both “Default Shipping” and “Default Billing” 
  • Under the “Label” replace the address with the word “Inactive”

 

  • Click “Add” and a new address line will appear.   The “Default Shipping” and “Default Billing” will automatically be checked.  

  • Edit the new Address by clicking on the pencil.
  • A new screen will open up and just type the new address and save (to save address).
  • Save the Customer information (to save all changes).

 

Important: A site has been created in VSM when you saved the new address but that will not automatically change any sites on the existing contracts.  For example, if customer has a Salt delivery contract and want to keep it for the new address, the contract will need to be changed in VSM. 

Copy the contract # in NS and go to VSM under customer contracts and filter it by the contract#.

Best Practice: Cancel contract from previous address and create a new one with new address. That gives a better history of the contract and avoid problems with the sites and deliveries to the wrong address.
