322-Create Work Orders – From Warehouse Jul 5, 2018
Create Work Order
Some Work Orders are created from Sales Orders like in the case of a sale of equipment. Other times, the work order is created by the warehouse when an order for rental equipment comes in but the equipment does not exist in the branch’s rental inventory. In those cases, to fulfill that rental request, a new piece of equipment has to be assembled and placed in the warehouse inventory in order to be able to rent it. To accomplish this the Warehouse Mgr. will have to create a work Order.
- In the Global Search type “Enter Work Orders”. Another window will open and enter the assembly #, Qty., When assembly # is entered the list of components will show under “Items”.
- Make sure that Subsidiary is correct, enter Department, Product line and Location where parts to be assembled are coming from. (usually the Warehouse).
- Check that all the component parts of the assembly are correct. Sometimes the assembly built needs to be customized (different tank size, Fawcett color, etc.) so the part(s) required to complete customer specific order will need to replace what it comes automatically in the system. Make sure qty. is also correct.
- Save.
A WO # will be assigned by system.
Work Orders are fulfilled by the warehouse and until the status of the Work Order shows “Built”, which will happen when warehouse has completed the job, it cannot be invoiced by CSR (NS will not allow it because order cannot be fulfilled thus an invoice cannot be created.) See Assembly Build.
